It's #NationalSiblingsDay! We hope you're embracing the weekend like the du Pont sisters, Octavia, Lucille, and Marianna were in this 1921 photo ☀️
To mark one year of the Covid Chronicles Delaware Project our Executive Director, David Young, shared his reflection – “When I took the picture, it saddened me and looking at it now to reflect—at long last—on my first submission to the Covid Chronicles--it breaks my heart. In March 2020, as schools closed, and work life changed, it represented fear and sadness that we can’t be together. Now I see it differently, representing a goodbye to what was and to all the people I miss, especially the two-dozen people in my life who have passed away over the last year or so.” Link in bio to read the rest of David's story. As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers! Here's a dapper fellow with a huge basket of flowers in the backyard of a home on Mount Salem Lane, Wilmington, in 1934. This yard was used for a Board of Education-sponsored gardening program!
🚨ATTN Teachers!🚨 SWIPE to learn more! We're looking for innovative educators to develop & pilot comprehensive lesson plans utilizing DHS archival collections. Link in bio to apply!
