Now the African Union Methodist Protestant (AUMP) and the Union American Methodist Episcopal churches, it is the oldest independent African American denomination in the United States. Spencer also started the August Quarterly, the oldest continuously celebrated African American festival in the United States. #BlackHistoryMonth
